Educational project for young people from the Marie-Reine school

The Foundation, it's also special projects. It all started in 2017 when the director of the Marie-Reine school, Mrs. Linda Pagé, submitted a project to the Chrisitan Vachon Foundation after several months of reflection.

She notes that many families do not have the resources to support their children in their learning, even less for the period of homework and lessons. Linda and her educational team had the idea of making educational bags to help young people to learn reading, mathematics and even to develop their motor skills.

The math bag contains manipulative, a game board, simple instructions and a math book. The intention is to have children play with their parents while learning mathematical concepts.

Each week, 20 math bags are rotated to allow all children to play the games.

This concept is repeated with reading and motor skills bags. Preschool and 1st cycle are targeted by this experience.

Here are few pictures that were taken by the kindergarten teacher 1 year later.

Students love math bags. They can't wait to discover the book and the little game they will have to do with their parents. Some parents tell us they enjoy this moment with their little coco. We are already thinking of extending to the first year in order to support, this time, more official learning by making it more fun.

Many thanks to your Foundation.
