DESJARDINS CONTINUES ITS IMPORTANT PARTNERSHIP
Sherbrooke, February 12, 2020 – It is with great pride that the Christian Vachon Foundation publicly unveiled a major partnership with Desjardins . The association between the two entities is not new since the Desjardins Group of the Lac-Memphrémagog was one of the partners from the start of this foundation, which has been working for school perseverance for 14 years. But this time, all the Desjardins groups in Estrie responded PRESENT for their community and for young people in need.
By granting a contribution of $170,000 over three years, Desjardins thus becomes a major partner of the Christian Vachon Foundation and title partner of the Relais Desjardins du lac Memphrémagog . The man behind the foundation that bears his name, Mr. Christian Vachon, says that this represents a symbolic gesture reflecting the importance of the financial services cooperative involvement with young people: "It's been since the very beginning of the activities of the foundation, in 2006, that Desjardins is with us. So for me, there couldn't be a better title partner for the Relay. To see that all the groups in the region are mobilizing for our young people is extremely touching. Beyond the money, there is the commitment of Desjardins staff in all of our annual activities, not to mention their teams who take up the challenge of taking over every year… Wow! ".
Indeed, Desjardins employees are very involved in the Relais Desjardins du lac Memphrémagog. Each year, several teams of runners take part in this relay race and volunteers also come to lend a hand to the organizers.
Mr. Marco Boucher, General Manager of the Desjardins Group des Deux-Rivières from Sherbrooke and spokesperson for the groups in Estrie, confirms that the association with the Foundation is natural: "At Desjardins, we are all committed to youth and for school perseverance. As we know, the needs of our young people are more and more pressing. To help them, support for such structuring projects carried out by organizations in our community is essential. Our major partnership with the Christian Vachon Foundation therefore demonstrates this commitment, as does that of Desjardins Group to donate $50 million annually to support our young people and our communities. »
