Christian Vachon begins his last lap

The founder of this fundraising race and the only man to complete the race around the lake – in 2006 – Vachon plans to take between 11 and 12 hours to complete his feat.

Between 2007 and 2013, he devoted himself to his role as an organizer, instead of putting on his running shoes. “I wanted to have the chance to rub shoulders with the other runners one last time, and to be able to say thank you to all the volunteers who are on the ground.”

“I feel a bit more tired than the last time, due to all the preparations for the event. But, it should go well, because I had an excellent physical preparation, particularly during the last weeks. It should be a beautiful day, ” he said, a few minutes before starting at La Ruche high school.

Supporters of Christian Vachon are invited to run the last two kilometers of the relay in his company, at the start of the evening. We suggest that people come to the Moulin parking lot between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. approximately.

Spectators can also welcome participants in the public square of La Ruche school.

Throughout the day, 200 six-person teams will circumnavigate Lake Memphremagog, passing through Canadian and American territory.

Some 1,300 elementary school children will also take part in a cross-country this afternoon at La Ruche.

Organized for the benefit of the Christian Vachon Foundation, the Relais du lac Memphrémagog is expected to raise more than $300,000 for underprivileged children.
