The Relais du Mont-Bellevue

This new running challenge is a friendly competition on the trails of Mont-Bellevue in Sherbrooke. This race is accessible to everyone, both beginner runners who want to learn about trail running and elite runners who want to surpass themselves.

This team relay race of 2 to 6 runners is against the clock in a magnificent 4 km course.

The Relais du Mont-Bellevue is a fundraising race for the benefit of the Sherbrooke firefighters' toy campaign.

TEAM

The Relais du Mont-Bellevue is a relay endurance race run in teams of 2 to 6 people. We advise teams of more experienced runners to form teams of 4 runners to take full advantage of the challenge. However, the number of runners per team remains at the discretion of each team regardless of their level of running performance. All teams will be registered in a single category regardless of their number of runners.

DISTANCE AND COURSE

The course is approximately 4 km long. The race is divided into 5 sections and each section has a different level of difficulty. You can have an overview of the route and the different sections under the route tab. The route will be covered in a loop several times by each member of the team. The whole route is a good width uneven dirt track. The trail is made up of many more or less significant elevation changes, both positive and negative. The average passage time to complete a lap is between 20 and 30 minutes depending on the physical abilities and skills of each. A map of the route and a description of the sections is available under the Route tab.

PARKING

Free parking is available at the race site. Given the limited number of parking spaces, we encourage members of the same team to carpool. Each team will have the right to have 2 vehicles in the official race parking lot, the other vehicles must be parked in the surrounding streets.

BATHROOM

Toilets inside the Antonio Pinard ski chalet will be available.

REFUELING

There are no aid stations on the 4 km course. The team assembly and chip exchange area is the only refueling station for the race.

TEMPERATURE

The Relais du Mont-Bellevue challenge will take place rain or shine. People should be dressed appropriately to spend a full day outdoors. A 10X10 tent will be available for each team registered in the race. The Antonio Pinard ski chalet will be accessible to runners to warm up in case of rain or cold weather.

FOOD AND EQUIPMENT

Each team must be self-sufficient throughout the day in terms of food and water. A BBQ with drinks and food will be available on the race site in the afternoon and evening. The food and beverages offered during the BBQ are chargeable and are not included in the registration price. Each team will have access to a table in the area reserved for their team but no chair will be provided by the organization. We invite people to bring their own folding or camping-style chairs.

TIMING

Each team will be given a timing chip in the form of a ring which will serve as a relay between the runners when passing through the chip exchange zone. This area is strictly reserved for runners who have the chip and for those who are waiting to receive the relay. All laps completed by riders will be counted and added to their respective team total.

RELAY AND ORDER OF RIDERS

Each team is free to decide the order of the runners and the frequency with which they complete the 4 km loop. A runner cannot run 2 consecutive laps, each team must perform a chip exchange (relay) after each lap.

BIBS AND IDENTIFICATION

Each runner will receive a bib identifying him with the number of his team, and he must wear it at all times in front, in a visible way, either, ventral position or on the thigh. Each team will have a feed zone identified by a number, corresponding to the bib number of the riders of the same team, near the start/finish line. This area will serve as a refueling and gathering place for all runners.
